Slate Grey Belts
Black continues to be by far the best selling colour for a belt, either a plain belt or one that shows off those silver studs, but there are other options out there. White belts are the next favourite, with or without studs, followed by brown for those more formal belts. There are also some real statement colour belts like red, pink and green if you really want your outfit to shout out in a crowded pub. Here at Lowlife HQ we started to notice a big demand for leather belts in grey a few years ago, especially studded, so we will look at what is currently on offer and why more people are choosing grey over traditional colours.
Why are grey belts so popular? We don’t know, we aren’t psycho-analysts, we just know what we like and don’t care what people think. But grey is definitely a popular colour choice these days and I’m sure you too will have noticed a rise in grey over the past few years. Out of nowhere, every new car and van on sale was a dark grey. Suddenly, everyone started painting their walls in different shades of grey. It is obviously very contemporary, a lot more subtle than a bright primary colour, with different shades to choose from and a bit more interesting than plain black.
Grey Leather Belts
Here at Lowlife we have had a couple of grey studded belts over the years but we have been asked for more options, so our offering has increased along with the demand. There are different ways to get grey into our outfits and we have two different ways to get grey into our favourite belts. First off we can add grey studs to a black belt. This is a very popular choice with the different colours of metal available but the other option is to put the grey studs on a grey belt to go all the way.
We recently introduced a Triple Stud belt in Slate which is a dark grey belt with pewter grey studs and buckle. This has been a very popular belt as it brings the style of the triple pyramid stud belt to an outfit, but without the chrome studs jumping out at everyone. We have been asked to produce more grey belts, so building on the success of that belt we have now introduced 4 more brand new grey belts into the range. Our latest 3 stud offering is the Triple S in Pewter Mix which combines the classic black leather belt with grey antique silver studs and pewter grey studs in a chequerboard design.
Fans of the pyramid stud who like it a bit different will be pleased to hear that we have introduced the Slate Grey Armoured belt which is an update to our old Armour belt in grey. This new release features gun metal grey studs on a grey leather belt and incorporates all our latest design features like logo poppers for our changeable buckle, stitched edges and new rivet stud fitting.
Grey Webbing Belts
For those times that we want to wear something a little more casual with our jeans, a simple webbing belt gives us a more laid back easy going vibe. We have practically sold out of our bright coloured webbing belts and the black strapped is history, so we have introduced the Recon Grey Webbing belt in an urban camo design.
Sometimes we just want an easy belt for pure comfort and trust me, the Alt-Weave Webbing belt is the ultimate in practical comfort. This dark grey stretchy woven belt doesn’t exactly gel with our studded belt range, but we are a belt brand and we need to cater for all times and occasions. This vegan belt has a pewter grey metal spin buckle and is made from polyester and spandex, featuring a faux leather buckle attachment and belt endcap with debossed Lowlife branding. With no eyelets, the buckle can be fastened at any point along the belt without damaging the dark grey weave so it lasts for years and always looks good.
Old Favourite Grey Studded Belts
One of our first grey belts was the Armour studded belt in black and white, which we first made over 12 years ago. Interestingly, it wasn’t sold as a grey belt but as black and white, but it only has a row of half studs in white, a row of half studs in black, and then 3 rows of full studs in different shades of grey. This has been such a popular belt for so long that we didn’t stop to think why it was selling so well.
Another grey belt that was a firm favourite for many years was our Wallace in Slate. This grey leather rivet belt was sold out for many years but some customers asked us to bring it back, so we did. Our new delivery came at the beginning of the year and it is just as popular now as it always was.
Grey used to be considered dull and boring many years ago and grey was always used to describe someone or something very non-descript, but not anymore. These days grey is a definite style choice, whether grey jeans, grey hoodie, grey trainers or grey belt, we decide what makes us feel good. Fashion and style is as individual as our views and thoughts and only we get to decide how a colour looks. The different shades of grey belts now available means we can have a different shade for different occasions. Nothing shouts individuality more than taking ownership of our colour choices and shouting about it.
